Odin Teatret was founded in Oslo, Norway, in 1964. In Oslo, the newly established Odin Teatret, deprived of venue and technical experience, was an autodidactic amateur theatre. At the same time he rehearsed his first production, Ornitofilene, based on The Bird Lovers, a play by the well-known writer Jens Bjørneboe.
